Curren Caples Wins Toyota Athlete of Year 2013

TAOTY_winner_curren_800x800smCurren Caples has won the coveted Toyota Athlete of The Year award given each year through The Dew Tour. The award is given out to the Dew Tour athlete who showed the most exemplary accomplishments for the year.

Curren has certainly had a banner rookie year and this honor, along with the $25,000 prize, is a nice way to cap off the year.

Tia Blanco Wins Shoe City Pro

shoecityproLast week Tia Blanco won her first pro contest, The Shoe City Pro. The contest was held in Huntington Beach and also took the APSS Season Championship Title.

Tia is killing it this season and is surely one to watch as she begins to plan for her pro career and chases a WCT title.

Curren Caples Re-Signs with Oakley

oakleysCongrats go out to Curren Caples who just re-upped his deal with Oakley to continue to represent the brand. The iconic sunglass company will continue to keep Curren in Frogskins and plans to do some projects moving forward.

 

Roberta Mancino Re-Ups with GoPro

goproagesRoberta Mancino has re-upped her deal with GoPro making her the only female athlete on both the human flight and underwater teams. An early adopter of the GoPro product line, Roberta has been using their cameras for years to document her exploits on the land and sea. She is excited to continue to be part of the GoPro family.

Look for a new edit to drop in January, 2014 that blends Roberta’s fashion and flight worlds exclusively through GoPro.

Caples, Lopez and Kerley Book Project For Mattel

mattelgesIn early 2014, Louie Lopez, Curren Caples and Chad Kerley will be shooting an undercover project for toy manufacturer Mattel. The project, still under wraps, will include a web component, a national commercial and personal appearances.

Look for the project to drop mid 2014.

Ride UK Names Kerley “Worldwide Rider of the Year”

iridemagesRide BMX UK has just named Chad Kerley their “Worldwide Rider of the Year.” On top of this awesome nod Chad was also named “Global Rider of the Year” by Freedom BMX.

Coming off an incredible year with wins at X Games and Dew Tour and putting out epic parts for Markit and Dan’s Comp, Chad has made his mark on freestyle BMX in a big way in 2013.

Louie Lopez Signs with Cons

consAfter much speculation, Louie Lopez has agreed to sign with iconic shoe brand CONS. Louie will skate with such legends as Kenny Anderson and Jason Jesse and join today’s rippers like Zered Bessett and Drew Brophy.

Converse is a part of Nike, Inc. and has a decades long heritage in skateboarding. We are stoked to have Louie be part of this amazing brand.

Louie is currently touring with his new teammates through South America. Video coming soon.

Tia Blanco Makes Mark in Barbados with a 2nd and 3rd

spritemagesIn the inaugural ASP sanctioned Sprite Soup Bowl Pro Junior, RPRT’s Tia Blanco finished with a runner up spot in a hard fought battle with Chelsea Tuach. Also surfing in the Independence Pro, Tia wound up with a 3rd place overall there too.

Surfing the way she has been, Tia is destined to be on the world tour in no time! Congrats Tia on a great week in Barbados.

“Side Mission” by Arto Saari Coming to Epic TV

EPIC_tv_LOGO_small-01_largeArto Saari has signed on to produce and direct his own web series for Epic TV titled “Side Mission.” The series will be a combination of skate, photography and travelogue and will feature Arto and his compatriots doing what they love most – tearing up concrete, shooting pictures and seeking new things out in the world.

Look for the first episode to drop on EPIC TV in the next few weeks.
